Original Character Information
Appearance: He’s rather on the short side, with nearly white blonde (still a bit of gold in his hair) curly hair and a bit of a ghastly pale complexion. His eyes are pure moonlight silver, but they’re not seen very often as he wears sunglasses most of the time. Theo also feels like he’s walked over a person’s grave.

Setting:

In Theo’s world the gods walk the earth. The gods walked to the earth from elsewhere and they were grand and terrifying things. Magic invests this Earth, everyone has their own spark of magic, magic infuses it. Though because of this and because of the gods that live on the world while society had developed with similarities to our Earth there are differences. Colonialism didn’t take off - the gods were very protective of their territories. A few pantheons - like Theo’s - were diminished over time. Humanity started trying to figure out how to work things out without using the gods and their priests. Thus the industrial revolution happened.

The gods are searching for a way to regain their lost powers in the background, letting humanity trundle away, pushing them in directions that may work in their favor.

As a note - Theo is from the same universe as Rory - however he and Rory have not interacted nor do they have any reason to interact. Their families aren’t particularly friendly with each other and would prefer to just ignore each other.

History
Being born to a god of the death of one of the oldest gods in the world, one of the gods that came to Earth from beyond the stars, Theo is one of the most powerful necromancers - if not the most powerful - necromancer alive who isn’t a god. His uncle is the god of the moon and possibly the oldest god still alive. He also has a cousin from his uncle Ash, Maya who is about eight years his junior His father possibly owns most of the world. He’s certainly the (possibly) richest person (Having over 6k years to build up wealth will give you that distinction.) No one is really certain as Melkor doesn’t share all his holdings.

Named after Theodred from Lord of the Rings. Much like his father decided to use the name Melkor since he liked the character. It makes Theo roll his eyes whenever people recognizes the name and why he tends to go by Theo.

His mother died when he was eight in a car crash, but his father raised her up as a wraith to help raise Theo and because he couldn’t let her go.

Had a relatively normal childhood despite being raised by a god of the dead and a wraith for a mother. Loving parents are loving parents no matter what shape or size they’re in. Went through the trial to become a full god of necromancy however was unable to complete it because the god of necromancy spot was already filled.

Helped solve a case involving ritual murders done by fans of a movie star - a movie star who turned out to be Theo’s (much) older brother and current god of necromancy.

After being rescued from a dragon, started dating and then later married Adrienne Gunther, the daughter of one of his father’s rivals. Or at least a man who was part of a cult determined to bring down the gods. He didn’t hold it against her as her father is an ass. Adrienne and the others help keep him on a more morally good/mortal keel.

As Ashkari’s portfolio slowly shifts towards that of a god of love - from his fans interests in him - Theo slowly has moved into the god of necromancy’s position.

End up in the City [Bad username or unknown identity: ”polychromatic”] for little over a year. His first experiences there involved getting put into a magical circus where his necromantic powers were amplified and people could create zombie rats onastick.

He eventually got a job working at a casino run by Meyer Lansky as a card dealer and became friends with Al Capone who worked as a bartender at the casino as well as Meyer. Which was a strange experience for him as it was such a … not a sort of job he would take. After all he didn’t actually have to work if didn’t want to back home. And even if he did, it certainly wouldn’t be in a casino. But he wanted to try something different and that seemed to hit the spot at the right time.

Because of being a necromancer he had a somewhat uneasy relationship with the undead of the city. He tried not to command them around, but they still felt him and his presence.

The worst thing about being in the City - besides being away from family and friends - is that he was hanging out with some really nice but somewhat unsavory characters which sort of tilted him a bit towards the … well… evil side of things. Not really evil - Theo isn’t evil - just morally dubious. Willing to play around with things that would get him smacked royally upside the head for by his wife.

He also had a brief time-skip where he was sent home for several years, got married and then brought back to the City, only a few weeks having passed there. But it had the unfortunate timing of taking him right before finding out if his wife was pregnant.

The deities of the place decided eventually to empty out the city and send people home. The goodbyes were cheerful and tearful. Al, who was already a father, gave Theo a book on what to do as a dad (even if Adrienne wasn’t currently pregnant she might be in the future) and he went home as quickly as he could.

Personality: Being raised by two gods, ancient gods who were alive before human civilization was really a thing, who were once powers beyond human understanding and brought down serious power levels by humanity, Theo has an odd view of the world. He’s arrogant at times, exceptionally self assured at others. Humanity is there to serve him (well, no, not really… but that’s what his uncle and father think. It doesn’t help that his mom was a priestess of his uncle who then married his father…). He was raised rich and privileged among the rich and privileged with a very doting and loving family. His father might be evil in some aspects, but he does love his family dearly and will do anything to protect them.

Which is possibly where the evil comes into play. Because he will do anything to protect them.

Including spying on his family. Theo has long gotten used to knowing that his father pretty much spied on almost everything he did. Much like he’s gotten used to the fact that Adrienne has put explosives in the walls of their apartment. Just in case.

But he knows his place in the world (mostly) and that is to be a god. And gods are above them all. He sometimes worries about this since Adrienne is mortal and he has seen his father’s reaction to when his mother died. According to his uncle, his father never took any of his lovers dying well at all. He kept Ashkari’s mother (his first wife) from passing over for three days before his uncle convinced him to let her go. What will happen to Adrienne when she grows old and he does not. What will happen with their children? They can become gods, will Adrienne allow them to take the test to see if they have the potential? Once they do there’s no turning back.

Being a god, becoming a god, he’s learning, isn’t all it’s quite cracked up to be. For with all the power that is coming with it, there are limitations. He can’t make promises, binding agreements without being magically held to them. Some small ones are still okay, “I’ll meet you later.” But using the words “I promise” have been becoming more and more difficult as he can feel the magic building around him to enforce it.

Because of his heritage - both with the wealth and divine Theo was rather oddly isolated. There are laws forbidding him from entering politics (not that he wanted to) and people generally didn’t feel comfortable being around him (the whole walked on your grave thing). Though whenever women did start getting close to him, it was usually because they were money grubbing. He was on the most eligible bachelor’s list several years in a row as THE most eligible bachelor on several magazine lists. It was kind of a relief when he and Adrienne started dating. Though he did get some hate mail.

Actually Adrienne herself was a relief. He knew she was interested in him because she started out disliking him (and he her) and dating a co-worker, so they got to know each other first. And that allowed it to turn into friendship and then love. They discovered a rather enjoyable pastime of shopping. He liked finding things for her and buying them and she liked going shopping and just asking Theo to hand over the credit card. The best part being when Adrienne was dressed in her military uniform or something not very upscale and then the shop workers recognizing Theo or at least recognizing that he had one of those credit cards you get when you’re insanely wealthy and watching them fall over to serve them.

Some of the arrogance got wiped off of Theo when he found himself in the City. People had no idea who he was, who his father was and where he came from. Nor did they care. He actually had to make a living not just coast off on as a rich playboy. His credit card and name meant nothing here after all.

This was also where he met people who considered necromancy evil and angels. Holy creatures that actually burned him when he got near something he’d never really encountered before. He’d encountered objects that hurt him before and healers or those who could deal with life energy could knock him for a loop but angels? Those burned him badly. Like it felt like it could actually kill him badly.

Which was really kind of scary.

What he really lived for were those odd weekends when people from home would flood the city and he might be able to see Adrienne. Unfortunately for him she was always slightly before he was and so he couldn’t find out that most burning question. Still being able to see Adrienne made things better. Even if everything ached more afterwards.

Still his friendship with Al Capone and Meyer helped even things out a little. Just a tiny bit. Even when things got really weird. Al even checked up on him after Theo first got back with some excellent Italian food and over time

When the time came to leave, however, he left happily. Back home to where he was someone.

Powers/Abilities/Talents:

Theo is a necromancer. One of the most powerful - if not the most powerful alive beyond an actual god of necromancy and he is slowly becoming a god. This allows him to create and control the undead. And the undead he can create aren’t limited to skeletons and zombies. He can create intelligent undead such as vampires and wraiths. Theoretically he can also create intelligent zombies and skeletons, though he’s never actually tried to do so.

The powerful necromancy comes with a price because those who can detect undead read him as undead also anything that can affect undead can affect him - like holy objects or angels. Going on to holy ground from a religion that dislikes undead can be uncomfortable at best and completely painful or being unable to step onto it at worst.

He can see in the dark but his eyes are exceptionally light sensitive so he has to wear special sunglasses.

Because he is a demigod he’s harder to hurt than normal and when he is injured he heals up quicker - which is good because he only has the basic self defense skills.

Also because of his demigod status, if someone sacrifices something to him he gains a power boost and in return he’s able to grant the person a boost as well. It’s how magic in his world works. And it’s something people like Adrienne’s father is trying to figure out how to break.

In more mundane skills, he’s good with slight of hand tricks and he’s got a degree in economics and business. (Also necromancy but… that one is more honorary and required for paperwork than anything else.) Also, like any bored rich kid he’s learned how to pick locks, skills that were enhanced by working with Al Capone.
